Raptor Facilities

Founded in 1981, the raptor facility at the Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo is a wildlife rehabilitation facility that specializes in birds of prey. Each year more than 200 injured and orphaned birds of prey are admitted to the facility from throughout southeastern Colorado. The birds are provided with the best possible care with the hope that they will soon be returned to the wild. Half of these birds of prey will be returned. But a very special few remain at the center due to permanent disabilities.

These "resident raptors" become a very vital part of our staff and will assist with our educational efforts. Over 8,000 school children participate in educational field trips at the facility each year. We offer educational opportunities for all ages, both on and off-site on a variety of topics. In addition to the raptor facility,

the Nature and Raptor Center is open to the public throughout the year and offers a multitude of recreational opportunities.

The Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo is funded through memberships, donations, grants and special events. The facility operates under permits from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Colorado Parks & Wildlife.
